About Impulse
Impulse came to Tampa from the Commonwealth of Dominica and never let go of the islands. Since 1997 the band has blended zouk, calypso, reggae, soca, and merengue into a sound that crosses culture, race, and age — Tampa Bay's longest-standing reggae band, and an award-winning one at that.
You'll find them all over Florida — resorts, theme parks, festivals — but their spiritual home is Skipper's Smokehouse, where their island nights are a Tampa institution. They've shared bills with Pato Banton, King Yellowman, The Mighty Diamonds, and Sean Paul.
Five albums deep — from 'Reunion' (1999, as Brothers Intent) through 'Music for the World' (2013) — and still packing dance floors every week.
